History: Circa 1897. Opened to traffic on July 9, 1898. Designed by Charles E. Fowler. Oldest of four extant bridges over the Tennessee River in Knoxville. It is a steel spandrel-braced, cantilever-arched design. Major repairs and upgrades were made during the early 2000s. Located at the south end of Gay Street, spanning the Tennessee River, in Downtown Knoxville, Tennessee.
