History: Construction completed March 1921. First football game was held on September 24, 1921. Originally named Shield-Watkins Field. General Robert Neyland was the head football coach from 1926-52, and the stadium was renamed in his honor after its 1962 expansion (about 52,000 seats). Numerous expansions followed, and it can presently seat more than 101,000 roaring Vol fans! Located on Phillip Fulmer Way SW on the campus of the University of Tennessee.
