The Business of Blogging

It's been a minute.

I let my low esteem in writing get in the way of adding more posts. I thought I didn't like doing it because it wasn't a strength. But in fact, I do like writing but let my perfection get in the way.

I'd hate to make you read something that is a visible struggle for me.

AND dare I do something that I preach others not to do.

For anyone reading this that is familiar with my design-and-marketing-by-day career (under the guise of Topping Consulting), the above sentiment is what I commonly preach/teach.

Let me explain.

There are so many things that one could do to market themselves. Social, blogging, vlogging, podcasts, and more! This is what THEY tell our business selves that we must do.

But we can't be good at ALL of these.

I advise clients (and friends for that matter) to do what they LIKE doing out of the marketing tools list. And pick a few, but please don't do all unless you are staffed like Coca-cola.

So for instance, I can't stand doing social. I know it is good to look alive on it, so that's the minimum I put in. As for blogging, it's simply that I feel like writing is not my strength. It takes me a bit longer than the average Joe or Sally to get some proper sentence structure out on the page. But that's the trick, I don't have to be GREAT at it. I actually like it and know that it has SEO perks. Therefore I really should - an am doing - now.

For awhile when I started, I struggled weekly as I made myself type out words about some topic, trying to be perfect. It eventually occurred to me, that if my blogging was paired with a growth task, then it would be beneficial to me in multiple ways.

That's when I made it about creating art and used that as the catalyst to post weekly.

Like stepping off a scale, though, something happened and I lost my blogging way.

No better time to restart than the present.

What do you do when you aren't good at something but like doing it? You practice.

In overly lengthened terms thus far, all I am trying to say, is... I am back at the blogging process. All these human thought out words, one after another are BACK. Including the weekly art & design project.

So much is (and has been) going on and I want to be sure to get it down. It's like a journal entry of sorts that you get to partake in. No mush though. Not much drama, either. But I will try to make this as a learning lesson kind of posts. I want readers to have a takeaway.

For the latest news, this blog is about me combining my Topping Consulting site with this one. No more paying another hosting fee when these could be joined. I think there is a benefit to letting people know I am both a design and art kind of person.

Over the next year, you will see this site take on a knew shape. And, of course, I will tell you about it.

For now, Hello! and thank you for reading this blog.

This blog is 100% human thought and typing. Unless I mention something is AI, then assume it is not. All errors and poor grammar are 100% my fault.
